From a Historic Bakery to a Beloved Restaurant

The original restaurant was established in 2001 in a former bakery in Sliema. Rather than completely transforming the space, many of its original characteristics were retained, including traditional Maltese tiles, dark wooden furniture and warm-coloured walls. The result was a setting that felt rustic, intimate and distinctly Maltese.
For 25 years, Ta’Kris welcomed diners to its Sliema home before beginning a new chapter with its move to Gżira. While the location has changed, the restaurant continues its commitment to the traditional cuisine and welcoming atmosphere that have become part of its identity.
Keeping Traditional Maltese Cuisine Alive
One of Ta’Kris’ greatest strengths is its commitment to dishes that tell a story.
Traditional favourites such as Rabbit fried in garlic, Bragioli, Majjal il-Forn and Stuffat tal-Qarnit showcase the depth and variety of Maltese cuisine. The menu also features Maltese ingredients and local produce.
